Robert Kelly and Kytain.

You may notice some of my older artwork is signed Robert Kelly while later work is signed Kytain. The explanation for this is simply that I decided to create artwork under a name I chose for myself rather than a name given to me at birth, which reflects neither who I wish to be nor what I intend to achieve.

Like my name, the purpose of my artwork has changed as I have changed to better reflect what I see and how I feel. At its core, all of my artwork seeks to reveal the interlaced flow that I believe exists all around us. Science teaches us that time, energy, space and matter are linked in deep and complex ways. Perhaps they are just different expressions of one phenomenon. My art explores these links in a more intuitive way, to understand the flow and reflection of seemingly unrelated things: light to color to dark. How negative space invades positive space and changes both. I hope you find beauty in my work, even in some of my darker works. But beyond that I hope you find something more -- a connection.
